Academic Integrity

Checkmate is committed to maintaining academic integrity. We employ various technologies and methods to detect and prevent cheating, including:

Violations of academic integrity may result in account suspension or termination, and may be reported to your educational institution.

User Roles and Permissions

Teachers

  • Create, edit, and manage tests and assessments
  • View and grade student submissions
  • Access analytics and performance data for their students
  • Generate study guides and educational materials
  • Responsible for ensuring test content is appropriate and original

Students

  • Access assigned tests and complete them honestly
  • View their own submissions and grades
  • Access study guides and preparation materials
  • Report technical issues or concerns to teachers

Administrators

  • Manage platform settings and user accounts
  • Monitor platform usage and performance
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies

Intellectual Property

Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you create or upload to Checkmate, including test questions, responses, and educational materials. By using our platform, you grant Checkmate a license to store, process, and display your content as necessary to provide our services.

Platform Content

The Checkmate platform, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is owned by the developers at Immaculata High School. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of our platform without permission.

AI-Powered Features

Checkmate uses artificial intelligence to provide various features, including automated grading and cheating detection. By using our platform, you acknowledge that:

  • AI grading is designed to assist teachers, not replace their judgment
  • Teachers have final authority over grades and assessments
  • AI systems may occasionally produce errors; users should review results
  • Your submissions may be processed by AI systems as described in our Privacy Policy

Data and Privacy

Your use of Checkmate is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. Key points include:

  • All test data is encrypted and securely stored
  • Students can only access their own data; teachers can only access their students' data
  • Checkmate developers do NOT have access to user accounts or test content

Limitation of Liability

Checkmate is a student-developed educational project. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Teachers are responsible for verifying AI-generated grades and feedback
  • Users are responsible for backing up important data and maintaining their own records
  • We are not responsible for disputes between teachers and students regarding grades

Termination
